"The reverse of the carte-de-visite was generally printed with the logo of the photographer or the photography studio from which it came, as protection of copyright, as advertising, and sometimes carried instructions for effective posing."
“The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live only as you can.”

for heaven’s sake. So do it.” – Kurt Vonnegut I love creating gifts for new babies and this time, instead of working on a stretched canvas, I decided to work on textured paper. I love the end result and like the fact that this piece can be hung or placed in an infant's room or can transition to an adult space. I wanted to incorporate some of the colours and patterns found in the canoe painting I had completed for the couple's marriage so that they can compliment one another. This was a fun one. :)
“I think of art as the highest level of creativity. To me, it is one of the greatest sources of enjoyment.”
– David Rockefeller I had the privilege, once again, of creating the painting to be awarded at the Amazing Airdrie Women event hosted by AirdrieLIFE magazine to Prospect Human Services. They have a wonderful mandate:
"Prospect helps people get jobs. We’re a not-for-profit and registered charity, so while the bottom line can’t be ignored, it’s not our priority. You are. We welcome anyone who is looking for a better life through employment. We work with candidates who have degrees; we also work with people who are experiencing homelessness or experiencing a mental health condition or challenge. We can help upgrade your skills; we can also work with an employer to help them understand a disability. Above all, we’re creative and resourceful. Recognizing that not everyone learns in the same way, our methods include art and the great Alberta outdoors as tools. We help young and old, people changing industries, recent immigrants, veterans, people with disabilities, and everyday Albertans who feel that the job search process has become daunting. If that sounds good to you, let’s get to work!" My previous paintings were created for Blessingways Family Wellness, Community Links, Chamber of Commerce, Bert Church High School & Bert Church Theatre. |
